ISHANI & SANYA: BHARATANATYAM GRADUATION
an Arangetram 12 years in the making...
Bharatanatyam: dating back to 300 BCE, Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance that originated in the Hindu temples of southern India. It is considered to be one of the most demanding dance forms of India. The sheer stamina and years of practice required to be considered by your guru for an Arangetram - a performance graduation - is no small feat.

Arangetram: Arangu "stage" Etram "ascent". In the context of dance, the word refers to the graduation ceremony in with the guru presents his or her pupil to the public.
Ishani: a pupil of Bharatanatyam since age 5, Ishani will be 17 on the day of her Arangetram.

Sanya: a pupil of Bharatanatyam since age 4, Sanya will be 16 on the day of her Arangetram.

A 12-Year Journey: After a dozen years each of hard work and dedication to this ancient dance form, Ishani & Sanya will be "Climbing or Ascending the Stage" under the guidance of their guru Anjal Chande & teacher Savitha Chelladurai of Soham Dance Space, Chicago.
